The Self-Guided Tour: The Kauai Coffee Journey from Seed to Cup

Begin your visit with our self-guided walking tour. Stroll at your leisure through rows of coffee trees, where the deep green coffee trees frame brilliant coffee blossoms or brightly colored cherries, depending on the time of year. Coffee is an annual crop, which means what you see on the trees will vary with the time of year you visit. 

Coffee blooms burst onto the branches in the springtime, with the first buds appearing anywhere from late February to early April, depending on the amount of rain received over the winter months. Coffee flowers are self-pollinating and fleeting, lasting only a few days before they give way to the coffee fruit. Coffee is harvested during the fall, so summertime visits are great for seeing green and ripe cherries on the trees. 

No matter what time of year you find yourself on the self-guided tour path, informative signage unveils the journey our beans take from seed to your cup. From nurturing the soil and growing seedlings into trees to harvest and processing, a self-guided tour is a free and relaxing way to learn how coffee gets from the orchard to your cup while soaking in the natural beauty of our estate.

Coffee on the Brain Tour

Take your coffee knowledge to the next level with a Coffee on the Brain tour. A friendly and knowledgeable guide will take you through the coffee journey from seed to cup in the display orchard and then lead a short course on the different varieties of coffee grown on our farm and coffee brewing techniques you can use at home to get the best cup of coffee every time you brew. Don't worry; there are lots of coffee samples along the way! Register for a Coffee on the Brain Tour for a fun and engaging coffee experience. 

Farm Tour

Named Kauai's best farm tour in the 2023 HAWAII Magazine Reader's Choice awards, the Kauai Coffee Farm Tour is an adventure through the trees – four million of them, to be exact. Board our open-air vehicles and get ready to bump down the red dirt roads of our coffee estate. During this one-hour tour, you'll learn everything you need to know about how coffee is planted, grown, and made – from seed to cup. 

We'll guide you down roads only traveled by our harvesters so you can get an insider's view of our beautiful island home. We'll finish the tour with samples of the freshest coffee grown, harvested, and roasted on the estate. The farm tour offers a truly unique perspective of the coffee process and showcases the dedication and aloha that goes into every cup of Kauai Coffee.

Roasting Demonstrations: The Art of Flavor

Roasting coffee transforms green beans into the fragrant and delicious Kauai Coffee you grind and brew daily. Get a first-hand look at the roasting process with a roasting demonstration at the Visitor Center. Our expert roaster will guide you through the process live, explaining how different roasting levels bring out unique flavors and aromas in the beans. Roasting demonstrations are held at 9:00 a.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. No reservations are required. After the demonstration, pop into the shop to pick up a bag of Visitor Center Roast!

Free Coffee Sampling

No time for a tour, no problem, but no visit to Kauai Coffee is complete without sampling our exquisite 100% Hawaiian coffees. On our tasting lanai, you can indulge in a variety of our finest brews. You'll discover a range of flavors, roast levels, and unique, single-varietals only available at our Visitor Center and on our website. After sampling, stop into the shop to pick up a bag (or many!) of your new favorite beans. 

Kauai Coffee Visitor Center Café and Gift Shop

Our café window and gift shop are treasure troves of coffee delights. At the café window freshly brewed hot and iced coffee as well as blended drinks and smoothies are available for purchase. Light snacks and sweet treats are also available.
